NBA Mobilises Resources To Support Colleagues Affected By Borno Flooding

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has announced a mobilisation of resources to provide urgent welfare support to its members in Borno State affected by the recent devastating floods. NBA President, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, expressed deep sympathy for those who have lost homes, businesses, and property as a result of the flooding.

In a statement, Osigwe emphasised the NBA’s commitment to standing by its colleagues during this challenging time. “We commiserate with the families whose homes, businesses, and properties were affected by the flooding, and we particularly sympathise with our colleagues who have suffered losses.”

The flooding has caused widespread displacement and destruction in Borno State, with many lawyers severely impacted. The NBA has sent a delegation, led by NBA Welfare Secretary Auta Nyada and Assistant General Secretary Ehi Barnabas Henry, to Maiduguri to assess the damages and coordinate relief efforts.

“Our delegation has arrived in Maiduguri to carry out an on-the-spot assessment of the situation and to ensure that relief efforts are directed where they are most needed,” said Osigwe. He added that the NBA is committed to providing swift and effective support to the affected legal community.

The NBA has also appealed to members of the association to contribute to the relief efforts by making donations to the NBA North-East Support Account at Access Bank.

Osigwe reassured members of the NBA’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of its members, particularly during times of adversity. “We stand united in our resolve to support and uplift our colleagues during this moment of need,” he concluded.
