NBA Keffi Branch Honours Y. C. Maikyau, SAN With Distinguished Merit Award At Interactive Session

Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, SAN and team were in the Keffi Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association and given a warm reception by the Chairman, Yakubu Moses Ede who hosted and welcomed Mr. Maikyau SAN and introduced him to members of his branch, including the pioneer Chairman of the branch, Eric Irehovbude Esq. amongst others.Mr. Eric Irevhobude, who was given audience to speak, said “for those persons always asking whose side am I? Let me tell you that this is where I belong”, pointing at Mr. Maikyau, SAN.
Yakubu Chonoko (Y C) Maikyau SAN apologised for the short notice and described Keffi branch as no lesser branch than any other branch of the NBA. He also thanked the chairman Yakubu Moses Ede Esq for his unwavering support to the cause and for convening a large number of its members within the shortest notice.
Mr. Maikyau said: “like Mr. Eric Irehovbude Esq. has stated, a lot has been shared on various platforms on my aspiration, from my profile and the manifesto that has been submitted to the ECNBA”.
He urged members to look at his manifesto and hold him to account to every thing that has been put down there.
He extolled the President of the NBA, saying he has done so well and that he is saying so because he is privileged to work with this administration as the Chairman of NBA Welfare Committee.
He also commended the administration of Olumide Akpata on the resuscitation of the NBA-ICLE,saying that what that intends to do is to build our capacity for all it cares is in this profession wherever you are, never mind that you are in this location, you are a global practitioner of law.
The learned silk assured members that if voted in, his administration would pay for 1000 additional beneficiaries of the NBA-NHIS in its first year and another 1000 in the second year, in addition to renewing the subscription of the initial 1000 beneficiaries, such that at the end of the administration, 3000 members would have been enrolled in the NBA scheme, as stated in his Manifesto.
In the course of the interaction, Mr. Maikyau SAN responded to some questions.
On whether Mr. Maikyau will support LOAN?
Mr. Maikyau SAN said on the issue of poor salaries to law officers despite the risk in their jobs, he promised to work closely with the President of LOAN for the actualization of the registration of LOAN as a trade union and he is also in support of the ongoing case on it.
On whether Mr. Maikyau SAN would continue the free seal?
Mr. Maikyau SAN assured the members that he will not stop giving free seal to financial members and that the expiry date on seal is statutory.
The Chairman of the Branch, Yakubu Moses Ede honoured Mr. Maikyau, SAN with an Award for his immense contributions towards the growth and development of the legal profession.
