NBA-ICLE And NBA Onitsha Branch To Host Intellectual Property Law Training In Anambra State
The Nigerian Bar Association’s Institute of Continuing Legal Education (NBA-ICLE), in collaboration with the NBA Onitsha Branch, is set to hold a one-day intellectual property (IP) law training for lawyers in Anambra State. The training is scheduled to take place at the Louis Mbanefo Bar Centre in Onitsha on Thursday, March 7, 2024.
Tobenna Erojikwe, Chairman of the Governing Board of NBA-ICLE, highlighted the purpose of the training, stating, “The objective of this training is to encourage practice diversification among lawyers in Anambra State, especially those practicing in Onitsha.”
Explaining the choice of Onitsha as the training location, Erojikwe cited data from the trademark registry indicating that Onitsha records the highest number of trademark applications in Nigeria. He stressed the importance of equipping lawyers in Onitsha with the necessary skills to handle their clients’ IP needs effectively.
The training will cover essential topics in intellectual property law, including trademarks, patents, copyrights, and trade secrets. Erojikwe announced the participation of leading IP law experts, including renowned practitioners Prof. Bankole Sodipo, SAN, Ngozi Aderibigbe, and Chinasa Uwanna, as facilitators.
“This presents a valuable opportunity for lawyers in Onitsha and Anambra State to enhance their legal expertise,” Erojikwe remarked.
Registration for the training is open to all interested lawyers, with Erojikwe encouraging legal practitioners in Onitsha and neighboring areas to participate. He emphasized the potential of the training to enhance their capacity in the rapidly evolving field of IP law.
