NBA General Secretary-Elect Pledges To Embrace Digital Innovations For A More Responsive Association
The General Secretary-elect of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Dr. Mobolaji Ojibara, has announced that the new NBA leadership will prioritize digital innovations to make the association more responsive and accessible to its members and the public.
Speaking with journalists in Ilorin, Kwara State, Ojibara emphasized the importance of leveraging technology to enhance the efficiency of the NBA. “Our aim is to make the NBA more responsive and accessible through digital innovations. By embracing technology, we are positioning the NBA to serve its members and the public better,” he stated.
Ojibara highlighted the need to educate lawyers on the use of new digital tools, ensuring a smooth transition to a modernized and efficient NBA. He drew inspiration from global associations like the International Bar Association (IBA), where operations are seamlessly managed online. “Our vision is to bring the same efficiency and accessibility to the NBA,” he added.
In addition to technological advancements, Ojibara stressed the incoming administration’s commitment to restoring public trust in the NBA. He acknowledged concerns about the declining public confidence in civil society organizations, including the NBA, and emphasized that addressing this issue would be a priority.
“Public confidence in organizations like the NBA has regrettably diminished in recent years. However, under the leadership of our incoming president, Mazi Afam Osigwe (SAN), we are determined to reverse this trend. Our administration is focused on enhancing our members’ welfare and professional development while simultaneously rebuilding the public’s trust in the NBA as a credible civil society institution,” Ojibara said.
He assured that the new administration would actively engage with the public to address unethical practices among lawyers, urging members of the public to report any misconduct to the appropriate NBA authorities.
