Natasha Celebrates Sallah With Constituents Despite Ban: Says “No Law Stops Me”

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, said no law prevents her from celebrating Sallah with her constituents. She clarified her recent homecoming visit was not a political rally. Natasha stressed she returns home solely to celebrate Sallah with her people.

During a public address on Tuesday, Natasha declared, “I am not holding a rally. I come home to celebrate Sallah. I break no law.” She defended her right to gather and celebrate freely, asserting that Nigeria protects the freedom to assemble and express. Natasha urged Nigerians to understand that celebration is a personal right under the constitution.

She noted that thousands of supporters welcomed her home despite political tensions. Natasha expressed gratitude for their support and promised to fight against any injustice. “I draw strength from my people,” she said. “Their support fuels my courage to face any injustice.”

Natasha also criticized the Senate for suspending her. She called the suspension illegal and said it violated constitutional provisions. She mentioned that Justice Obiora Egwatu recently recused himself from the case after facing threats. Akpoti-Uduaghan hoped that Justice Binta Nyako would conduct the case with integrity. Natasha promised to return to the Senate and resume her duties as a duly elected representative.

She announced plans to flag off the reconstruction of three primary healthcare centers in Kogi Central and launch an empowerment program this week. Natasha added that her work continues regardless of political setbacks. She urged Nigerians to speak out, stating, “An injustice against me is an injustice to all.”

Natasha’s message underscores her commitment to democratic principles. She emphasized that celebrating Sallah strengthens unity and reinforces the right to peaceful assembly. The senator’s remarks resonate with her supporters, who see her actions as a stand for justice and freedom in Nigeria.
