Murder Trial Of Ebonyi Lawyer Adjourned To November 28

The High Court in Abakaliki has postponed the murder trial of Sunday Ununu, an Ebonyi-based lawyer, to November 28. Ununu is accused of causing the death of Nnamdi Nwite-Ugo on August 21 in Agbaja-Unuhu, Abakaliki Local Government Area.
The 45-year-old lawyer faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and murder and is currently being held in a correctional facility as ordered by an Abakaliki Chief Magistrates’ Court.
During Thursday’s hearing, the defense counsel, Donatus Njoku, filed a bail application, which was contested by Jude UdokaChukwu, the Acting Director of Public Prosecution for the state. UdokaChukwu argued that bail should only be considered once full trial proceedings begin.
Justice Iheanacho Chima adjourned the case for further hearings on November 28, December 6, and December 13.
