Man Arrested For Defrauding Job Seekers In Kano

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano has arrested a 32-year-old man accused of defrauding job seekers out of N1.2 million through a fake employment scheme.

The suspect, identified as Mu’azu Mohammed Ibrahim, was apprehended after weeks of surveillance by the NSCDC, following numerous complaints from his victims. Ibrahim, a resident of Sagagi quarters in Kano Municipal Local Government Area, allegedly posed as a high-ranking government official with the ability to secure employment in various state government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).

He reportedly targeted his victims, mostly women, by promising them government jobs in exchange for large sums of money. Once the payments were made, Ibrahim would disappear, leaving his victims without the promised employment.

According to Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC in Kano, the suspect’s arrest followed an intensive investigation that began after multiple victims came forward. The victims claimed they had collectively paid N1.2 million to Ibrahim, trusting that he could secure them government positions.
