Man Demands N200 Million From Female Lawyer Over Unauthorized Recording, Social Media Post [PHOTOS]
A Nigerian man has threatened to file a N200 million lawsuit against a female lawyer, Ms. Amaka Udeh, for recording and posting a video of him without his consent. The video, which was shared on Udeh’s social media account, showed the man asking for her phone number at a court.
Recent reports indicate that the man has taken legal action, demanding a public retraction and apology for the video, along with compensation for damages.
The demand gained attention after a media outlet, @AskPHPeople, shared the story on social media, stating, “The young female lawyer, Ms. Amaka Udeh, who recorded the man asking for her phone number without his consent and posted the video online, has been hit with a N200 million lawsuit.”
Social media users reacted strongly to the news. One commenter, @espeezeal, wrote, “If this man retracts this suit, he’s a bastard. The woman actually needs to be taught a lesson.”
Another user, @revelationrabbi, advised against sharing private recordings, saying, “This is where Attorney Deji Adeyanju comes in. On a more serious note, if you feel the urge to record someone, resist the temptation to share it, even with friends or family.”
In contrast, @IchiPrecious supported the lawyer’s actions, stating, “She did it for security reasons. If she takes up the matter, it will fall in her favor. It’s not everything we judge on social media.”
However, some users, like @Abangwu4, dismissed the lawsuit, calling it frivolous and suggesting that the N200 million demand was excessive. “It’s a nonsense lawsuit that will not scale through. 200 million is outrageous if at all a crime was committed, and she can even counter sue the man,” they remarked.
The case has sparked widespread debate online, with opinions divided on privacy, consent, and the legality of sharing such recordings on social media.
