Legal Practitioner And Professional Sports Administrator, Owoicho David Adejo-Ogiri Appointed To Lobi Stars Interim Management Committee

Abuja-based senior lawyer and professional sports administrator, Barrister Owoicho Adejo-Ogiri, has been appointed as a member of the newly constituted Interim Management Committee of Lobi Stars Football Club of Makurdi.

The appointment, approved by Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia, was announced on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. The new committee is mandated to manage the club’s affairs pending its full restructuring.

Governor Alia named Terver Ikya as Chairman, Uja Emmanuel as Media Director, Harry Yachi as Technical Director, and Terzungwe Chugh as Admin/Board Secretary from the Ministry of Sports.

Owoicho Ogiri, a respected legal practitioner with a rich background in sports governance, joins the team as a member.

The governor directed the committee to immediately register Lobi Stars for the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) football season and charged them to work collectively to restore the club to topflight football.

Owoicho Ogiri brings extensive experience to the committee. He currently serves as a Judge of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) Courts—both the International Tribunal (IT) and the International Court of Appeal (ICA). He is also the Director of Membership and a Governing Council Member of the African Bar Association (AFBA).

With over two decades in sports administration, Ogiri has held key positions in Nigerian football, including as a member of the NFF Disciplinary Committee and Vice Chairman of the Player Status Committee of the Nigerian Football Federation. He is also a member of the Nigeria Sports Commission (NSC) Elections Appeals Committee.

Governor Alia’s media aide, Sir Tersoo Kula, stated that the interim team’s formation marks a crucial step in repositioning Lobi Stars for competitiveness, unity, and excellence. He added that the governor warned against distractions and emphasized the need for collaboration and discipline within the club’s management.

The inclusion of Owoicho Adejo Ogiri in the management team is seen by many as a major boost for Lobi Stars, given his blend of legal expertise and sports management experience.
