Legal Battle Against AGF, NJC, NASS Over Salaries Of Nigerian Judges Begins June 6

The fierce legal battle against the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), National Judicial Council (NJC) and the National Assembly (NASS) over poor wages being paid to Nigerian Judges is to kick start at the National Industrial Court on June 6.

A notice of hearing just sighted by our correspondent indicated that the suit would be heard at Court two of the National Industrial Court, Area 3, Abuja.

The notice also indicated that the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), National Judicial Council (NJC), National Assembly (NASS) and Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) who are the key defendants in the matter have been put on notice to appear before the court for their defence.

Although the suit was instituted by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria SAN, Sebastine Hon, our correspondent learnt that a legal luminary, Solomon Adegboyega Awomolo SAN will lead a team of senior lawyers in the arguments in the suit seeking to compel an upward review of salaries, allowances and emoluments of the Judicial Officers.

Chief Sebastine Hon, who instituted the case, is praying the court to compel the defendants to increase the salaries and allowances of judges in the country.

The suit is marked: NIC/ABJ/CS/595/2022 and filed by Sebastine Hon in his capacity as a concerned legal practitioner in Nigeria.
