NBA Hails Newly Elected Leadership Of Pan African Lawyers Union (PALU)

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has congratulated the newly elected leaders of the Pan African Lawyers Union (PALU), describing their emergence as timely and essential to advancing legal cooperation across the continent.
Mr. Tewodros Getachew Tulu, President of the Ethiopian Federal Advocates Association, was elected as President of PALU. The NBA said his election reflects strong leadership, deep legal insight, and an unwavering commitment to justice and regional integration.
The NBA, in a statement issued by its President, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, on Sunday, noted that Tulu’s mandate comes at a critical moment in Africa’s legal evolution. He is expected to strengthen PALU’s role in enhancing access to justice, upholding rule of law, and promoting good governance through improved collaboration among African courts and legal institutions.
The association also extended heartfelt congratulations to Mrs. Joyce Oduah, FICMC, a past General Secretary of the NBA, on her election as Secretary General of PALU. Her appointment was described as a significant achievement and a source of pride to the Nigerian legal community.
According to the NBA, Oduah’s selection is a clear endorsement of her legacy of service, as well as her efforts to drive institutional reform and regional legal alignment. Her new role is expected to foster deeper collaboration among lawyers and court systems across African nations.
The NBA expressed confidence that the new PALU leadership would sustain the body’s reputation as a strong legal voice for African interests.
“We wish the new team a successful and impactful tenure,” the NBA President concluded.
PALU remains the continental umbrella body for African lawyers and legal associations, including national bar associations and court practitioners.
