Lawyer Calls For Public Reprimand Of Assaulted UNIZIK Lecturer, Cites Improper Conduct

A Nigerian lawyer, Barrister Enyinnaya Nwosu, has urged Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) to publicly reprimand Dr. Chukwudi Okoye, the lecturer involved in a viral altercation with an expelled female student, Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious.
Reacting to the university’s decision to expel the student, Nwosu argued that while disciplinary action against the student was justified, the lecturer should also face some form of public condemnation from the university authorities. In a Facebook post, he stated that Dr. Okoye’s handling of the situation was inappropriate, though he did not advocate for his dismissal.
“Lecturer should get some public condemnation from the university authority. He didn’t do well too. Maybe not sacking but some form of reprimand,” Nwosu wrote.
His stance has sparked mixed reactions online, with social media users divided over whether the lecturer’s actions warranted disciplinary measures. While some supported Nwosu’s call for accountability, others maintained that the student’s actions were inexcusable and warranted expulsion.
Meanwhile, a concerned individual has appealed to the university’s management to reconsider the expulsion, describing it as an unfair judgment. He also threatened legal action if the decision was not reviewed.
