Lawyer Ayo Shonaiya Questions EFCC On Naira Spraying In Strip Clubs

Entertainment lawyer Ayo Shonaiya has challenged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over its ongoing crackdown on naira abuse at public and private events.
Naira Abuse: Strip Club Scenario Sparks Debate
Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Shonaiya posed a satirical but pointed question about the legality of spraying naira on strippers in clubs.
He wrote:
“So now, when the star stripper in the club goes up the pole, performs the no-hands ‘windmill’ and comes back down in a zip, but stops dramatically just before she hits the stage, with her legs in the air, and the whooosh of Naira notes thrown in the air falls on her very gently from the sky…
Is it a crime? @officialEFCC”
EFCC Yet to Respond
While the EFCC continues to arrest high-profile individuals over currency mutilation, the post adds a layer of public curiosity and legal ambiguity around how the law applies in less conventional settings like strip clubs.
Shonaiya’s question reflects growing concerns about the scope and consistency of the naira abuse ban enforcement.
