Lagos Opens New Commercial Court To Boost Business Dispute Resolution

Lagos State has launched a new commercial court at Tapa, Lagos Island. The court is part of the High Court system and will handle business disputes and regulatory matters. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu unveiled the new facility on Tuesday and praised the court’s advanced technology and said it will expedite the justice process.
Sanwo-Olu told reporters, “This court will eliminate economic barriers and settle business disputes swiftly.” He commended the Lagos State Attorney General, Lawal Pedro, and the Chief Judge, Justice Kazeem Alogba, for their efforts to improve our judicial system. “Our judicial system is unrivaled, and this initiative represents our dedication to progress,” he added.
Lagos officials stress that the new court will boost economic growth in the state. The court will serve as an institutional tool for enforcing physical and regulatory responsibilities. It will provide a specialized forum for resolving complex commercial litigation. The Lagos government believes the court will restore confidence among local and international investors.
Lawal Pedro, the Lagos State Attorney General, said the government will use the judiciary as a key driver of economic growth. “We will continue to harness our court system to resolve tax, levy, and land use disputes,” he said.
