Kwara State Judiciary Receives Fleet Of New Vehicles
In a bid to enhance the welfare of judges serving in the Kwara State High Court, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has presented 11 Toyota Fortuner Jeeps to judges in the state. Additionally, the Chief Judge, Justice Abiodun Ayodele Adebara, received a 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser for the use of his office, marking a significant effort by the administration to ensure the comfort of judges in their service to the state and the nation.
During the official presentation ceremony held at the State High Court in Ilorin, Justice Adebara revealed that in February of 2024, five Toyota Fortuner Jeeps were allocated to five High Court Judges from funds provided by the state government under the 2023 Budget. He further announced that another five new Toyota Fortuner Jeeps, procured under the 2024 approved budget, would be allocated to five additional judges on April 30, 2024.
Governor AbdulRazaq had previously released seven Toyota vehicles to the judiciary, with six intended for the six new judges to be appointed. Justice Adebara emphasized that the purchase of a brand-new vehicle is a prerequisite for the appointment of a new judge, as mandated by the National Judicial Council (NJC).
Highlighting the governor’s responsiveness to the needs of the judiciary, Justice Adebara commended AbdulRazaq for prioritizing the procurement of vehicles for judges, noting that the last time judges received vehicles from the government was eight years ago, excluding those appointed in 2020. He expressed gratitude for the governor’s commitment to enhancing the efficiency and dignity of the judicial office.
“We give glory to God and appreciate the amiable governor of the state for prioritizing this important need of the judiciary among other competing needs in the state,” Justice Adebara remarked. He also assured that efforts were underway to provide vehicles for judges who are yet to receive theirs, expressing confidence that their needs would be addressed soon.
