Kwara Governor Abdulrazaq Swears In Six New High Court Judges, Urges Diligence and Impartiality
On Friday, Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq inaugurated six new judges for the state’s High Court, urging them to serve with “diligence, impartiality, and in the best interest of the community and national security.”
The newly appointed judges include Ibijoke Olabisi Olawoyin, Fatimah Funsho Abdulrasaq, Oluwatosin Adenike Adeniyi, Yusuf Diko Adebayo, Olalekan Osuolale Ajayi, and Muritala Folohunsho. During the ceremony at the Government House in Ilorin, Abdulrazaq congratulated the judges and expressed confidence in their ability to uphold justice for all citizens.
The governor noted that this marks the first time six judges have been sworn in simultaneously in Kwara State and highlighted that this brings the total number of High Court judges appointed during his administration to 11.
He emphasized the importance of their role, quoting Usman Dan Fodio: “A kingdom can endure unbelief, but it cannot endure with injustice,” and pledged ongoing support for the judiciary. Abdulrazaq also highlighted recent renovations of court buildings and approved the reconstruction of the former Revenue Court to provide additional courtrooms for judges.
Joined by Chief Judge of Kwara State, Justice Abiodun Ayodele Adebara, the governor also presented new SUVs to the judges, underscoring the collaborative relationship between the judiciary and the executive.
In his remarks, Justice Adebara called the ceremony a significant step in the state’s justice system, introducing fresh perspectives to the judiciary. He praised the governor’s dedication to the rule of law and noted that the new appointments would enhance the timely delivery of justice.
Speaking on behalf of the newly appointed judges, Justice Ibijoke pledged their commitment to justice, fairness, and equity, and thanked the governor for swiftly meeting the National Judicial Council’s (NJC) requirements to make their appointments possible.
The event was attended by key state officials, members of the judiciary, royal fathers, and legal professionals, including Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi, Chief Judge Adebara, and several others.
