Killaboi Extradited From Qatar To Nigeria For Murder Of 21-Year-Old Student

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, widely known as Killaboi, from Qatar. Authorities say he fled after allegedly murdering 21-year-old Augusta Onuwabhagbe in Lagos, Nigeria, on July 13, 2023.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, announced on Saturday that Killaboi arrived in Nigeria in the early hours of the day. The extradition followed a joint operation involving INTERPOL, the Federal Ministry of Justice, and Qatari authorities.

“This extradition shows what is possible through strong international collaboration,” said Adejobi. “Justice will now take its full course.”

Killaboi was initially declared wanted by the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department in October 2023. INTERPOL later issued a red notice for his arrest. The suspect was first arrested in Freetown, Sierra Leone under a false name but escaped custody during a prison break in November 2023.

Further investigations revealed he used fake identities to travel through several countries including in West Africa, East Asia, and eventually settled in Qatar. Using the name Toure Abdoulaye and a forged Guinean passport, he secured employment and kept a low profile in Doha.

INTERPOL NCB Abuja and INTERPOL NCB Doha confirmed his identity through biometric data, leading to his arrest in February 2025. The Qatari judiciary approved Nigeria’s extradition request shortly after.

“The fact that Killaboi was found and returned from Qatar shows that criminals can’t hide forever,” a police source said.

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, praised the synergy between nations and promised a full trial for the suspect. “The Nigeria Police is committed to seeing that he faces the law,” he said.

Killaboi is now in custody and expected to stand trial for the murder.
