Kidnapped Nigerian Lawyer Mustafa Regains Freedom, Fate Of Two Others Uncertain

M.A. Mustafa, a Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) member who was abducted by gunmen near Lokoja, Kogi State, has regained his freedom. However, the circumstances surrounding his release remain unclear, and the fate of the two other abducted individuals is still unknown.
A source within the NBA confirmed Mustafa’s release on Wednesday morning, but it is yet to be determined whether his fellow captives, Ezikiah Grifits and John Otuloho, have also been freed.
The trio was kidnapped on Saturday and taken to an unknown location. The abductors later contacted the wife of one of the victims, demanding an initial ransom of ₦60 million, which was later reduced to ₦40 million.
According to sources, negotiations stalled when the family of one victim offered ₦1 million, leading to a sudden end to communication from the kidnappers.
Mustafa’s phone was reportedly briefly reachable on Wednesday morning before it was switched off again, further deepening the uncertainty surrounding the status of the other two captives.
