This initiative was revealed by the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Musa Danladi, during a meeting with delegates from the Katsina State Anti-Corruption Commission, led by its Chairman, retired Justice Lawal Garba.

Justice Danladi highlighted the state’s move towards digitalization, stating, “We are going electronic with the introduction of an electronic evidence presentation system that will be used from the point of arrest, through interrogation, to the collection of evidence.” He emphasized that the special court would focus solely on corruption cases, equipped with state-of-the-art electronic systems to ensure efficient case management.

The Chief Judge also underscored the importance of collaboration between the judiciary and the Anti-Corruption Commission, stressing that the new court would play a crucial role in tackling corruption across the state. He called on the Commission to adopt ICT-based operations and assured them of his full support, noting that special magistrate courts would also be established in the state’s three senatorial districts.

Justice Danladi urged the Commission not to limit its efforts to civil servants but to also target contractors and other individuals found engaging in corrupt practices. He assured the delegation of the judiciary’s readiness to work closely with the Commission to ensure that no offender escapes justice.

In response, the Commission’s Chairman, Justice Lawal Garba, explained that the visit was aimed at familiarizing the Chief Judge with the Commission’s operations and seeking his guidance and collaboration. He acknowledged the Chief Judge’s authority in overseeing criminal cases and expressed the need for strong cooperation between their offices.

The delegation also visited the state’s Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Fadila Dikko, who pledged full support for the Anti-Corruption Commission’s efforts. She emphasized the seriousness of corruption in the country and called for collective action to combat it. Barr. Dikko reaffirmed the Ministry of Justice’s partnership with the Commission, noting that they would work together to strengthen the fight against corruption in Katsina State.
