JUST IN: Rivers State Sole Administrator, Ibas Summons Suspended Governor Fubara

The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, has summoned Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Deputy Dr. Ngozi Ordu. He demands they appear before him for an inquiry, with the aim of providing documents on all appointments made during their administration in the past two years. Ibas expects clear explanations on the procedures and justifications followed, during their tenure.
Ibas directed Governor Fubara to submit all relevant records. The inquiry will allow the suspended governor to explain why he should be reinstated. Both parties are expected to appear in person. The Sole Administrator set the hearing for Friday, 18 April 2025, at 10:00 am. The session will take place in the conference room at the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt.
In a statement, Professor Ibibia Lucky Worika, Secretary to the State Government, stressed the need for strict accountability. Worika noted that the inquiry must cover all administrative actions over the past two years. “Attendance is mandatory,” Worika said. “This process forms part of the Sole Administrator’s ongoing efforts to restore transparency and accountability and lasting peace in the governance of Rivers State.,” he added.
Legal observers say the move may have wider implications for state governance.
