JUST IN: Court Awards N155m As Damages To Slain IPOB Lawyer’s PA
The Federal High Court sitting in Awka, Anambra State, on Thursday delivered a judgement in a fundamental rights suit filed on behalf of Samuel Uzo Okoro, also known as Biggy.
Okoro was a Personal Assistant (PA) to Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the Lead Counsel of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and lawyer to the outlawed group’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
Okoro was murdered and dead body burnt by security operatives including the police, the Department of State Services (DSS) and soldiers during a raid on Ejiofor’s home in Oraifite, Anambra State in June 2021.
On Thursday, Justice Hyeladzira Nganjiwa consequently held that the Nigeria Police, the DSS and Nigerian Army are liable for Okoro’s killing during their bloody invasion.
Justice Nganjiwa granted all reliefs Ejiofor sought for. The court also awarded compensatory and exemplary damages of N155 million against the Nigerian security agents.
