JOHNNY AGIM, SAN FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP: Meet The Judges
As part of the launch of the organisation, as well as “The Legacy Dialogue” and the inauguration of the #Legacy500 Elite Mentees, the Johnny Agim, SAN Foundation [JASAN Foundation] is organising an essay competition for the benefit of final year 500 Level Law Students of all Law Faculties of Federal and State Universities across the Federation. Therefore, interested 500 Level / Final Year Law Students are invited to write an essay as well as provide a short video recording on the topic:
“The role, challenges and strategies of mentorship in the Nigerian Legal Profession”.

B. THE PROFILES
1. Prof. John Oluwole A. AKINTAYO, PhD.
Prof. John Oluwole A. Akintayo, PhD is Dean, the Faculty of Law and a Professor in the Department of Jurisprudence and International Law, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. His research interests include Constitutional Jurisprudence with emphasis on the Judicial System. He has written extensively on the Supreme Court of Nigeria; and has served on the Law Revision Committees that prepared the Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000 and the Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.
He was the 32nd Chairman, of the NBA Ibadan Branch (2018-2020), a member of the General Council of the Bar (2022-2024), and the 11th President of the Christian Lawyers Fellowship of Nigeria (CLASFON) (2021-2024).
2. Mr. Kehinde O. OGUNWUMIJU, OFR., SAN, FCIArb. [U.K.]
Kehinde Olamide Ogunwumiju, SAN, is the Managing Partner at Afe Babalola & Co. His exceptional legal expertise encompasses a diverse range of areas including Company and Commercial Law, Admiralty/Maritime Law, Oil and Gas Law, and International Law and Practice. With a career spanning nearly two decades, and a track record of successful litigation and advisory roles, Kehinde has successfully led high-stakes litigation and advisory projects, positioning him as a trusted advisor in the Nigerian legal community.
He is particularly renowned for his work on Election Petitions, where he has been involved in every election cycle since 2007. His career is marked by significant achievements, including his elevation to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria [SAN] in 2017. In 2023, he was honoured with the Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic [OFR] for his outstanding contributions to law, society, and national development, by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association [NBA], the Chartered Institute of Insurers Nigeria [CIIN], the International Bar Association [IBA], and the Abuja Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines & Agriculture.
3. Chief Aikhunegbe ANTHONY MALIK, SAN
Mr. Aikhunegbe Anthony Malik, SAN, is the Founding/Principal Partner of A.A. Malik & Co. He is an astute legal practitioner who has been described as a dovish courtroom expert. Earlier in his legal career, he headed the Oil & Gas Section together with the Arbitration Team of the Law Firm of Alegeh and Co.
He is a Notary Public of Nigeria, an arbitrator per excellence, and has taken part in several decided cases that leading law reports in Nigeria have reported. He holds a Master’s degree in Law, a Master’s degree in International Studies, and Certificates in Criminal Prosecution and Administration.
He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association [NBA]. He is also a Fellow, of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and the Institute of Taxation; and a Certified Fraud Examiner. He has been recognised for his impact in society, and in 2022 he was conferred with the Chieftaincy title of “Adididi of Auchi Sacred Kingdom” (the community where he hails from).
4. Dr. Anne Uruegi AGI
Anne Uruegi Agi, PhD., is an accomplished legal practitioner with about two decades of experience. She holds an LL.M. in Human Rights and Corporate Legal Practice from the University of Ibadan and a Ph.D. in Intellectual Property Law.
Starting as a judicial researcher under Hon. Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, former President of the Court of Appeal, Nigeria, to private legal practice for over 15 years, Anne’s legal career encompasses various fields, including research, litigation, commercial transactions, conveyancing, and corporate practice. She currently serves as a dedicated law lecturer at the University of Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria – mentoring students and teaching diverse law subjects. She is also the examination Officer of the Faculty.
Through her “LearnSpace Foundation”, an NGO focused on space education and awareness, Anne is a fervent advocate of space law and policy, working towards promoting space science education, especially among young Africans. She is the author of the book, “Space Law 101 for Beginners,” which serves as an essential resource for those new to the field. She is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association [NBA], NBA-SPIDEL, Women in Aerospace Community, International Federation of Women Lawyers [FIDA], African Women Lawyers Association [AWLA], NBA Women Forum [NBAWF], and the Advocacy Committee of the Women’s Forum.
5. Nneka AMUCHEAZI
Nneka Amucheazi is a lawyer with over 19 years of experience in corporate commercial, company secretarial, energy law & policy, and power generation law practice. She is currently an energy consultant with Amucheazi, Ozioko & Co., before which she held various positions at Energia Limited (a Nigerian marginal oilfield company), including principal legal executive and team lead for contract and commercial community engagements.
Nneka’s skills are underpinned by over a decade of law practice gained in different capacities at various law firms in Nigeria. She is a Member of the UK Energy Institute [MEI], Member of the Nigerian Bar Association [NBA], Member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers [SPE] and an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators, UK [ACIS], the Secretary-General of University of Dundee, Alumni, Nigeria Chapter, among other professional and charity engagements. Nneka is passionate about mentoring young people across the board, through the SPE, the Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum (NBAWF), and other platforms.
Nneka is the best-selling author of “Nigeria’s Power Structure: Competition or Monopoly?” Also, some of her articles have been featured in the Africa Regional Forum Journal of the International Bar Association, as well as Oil, Gas and Energy Law Intelligence Journal.
