Jigawa High Court Announces Christmas And New Year Recess
The High Court of Justice in Dutse, Jigawa State, has declared its annual Christmas and New Year recess, scheduled to run from Monday, December 16, 2024, to January 3, 2025. This announcement was made in line with Section 274 of the Nigerian Constitution and Legal Notice No. 4 of 2015.
In a statement issued on Friday by Abbas Wangara, the Director of Protocol and Publicity for the Jigawa State Judiciary, the court will resume operations on January 6, 2025.
During the recess, Justice Muhammed El-Usman has been designated as the recess judge and will preside over urgent cases at the High Court Complex in Dutse.
“This is a routine annual event aimed at giving court staff and judges a break during the festive period,” Wangara explained.
He added that the appointment of a recess judge ensures that pressing matters requiring immediate attention will still be addressed.
“The recess provides an opportunity for court staff and judges to rest and prepare for the new year,” he noted.
The Jigawa State Judiciary has emphasized its commitment to clearing backlogs and ensuring prompt justice delivery. The announcement of the recess has been welcomed as a chance for court personnel to recharge while maintaining the capacity to handle urgent legal matters.
