Jay-Z Responds To Allegation Of Assaulting 13-Year-Old Girl, Denies Claims As Blackmail Attempt
Renowned rapper Jay-Z has publicly denied allegations accusing him of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs in 2000. The claims surfaced as part of an updated complaint in a civil case originally filed in October by Texas attorney Tony Buzbee.
The lawsuit alleges the assault occurred at an after-party following the MTV Video Music Awards. Jay-Z, 55, was recently added to the complaint after the judge ruled that the plaintiff, who was 13 years old at the time, showed sufficient cause to continue the case anonymously.
In a statement released via the Roc Nation X account, Jay-Z vehemently condemned the allegations, describing them as a calculated blackmail attempt. He also questioned the credibility of Buzbee, accusing him of pursuing the case for personal gain.
“My lawyer received a blackmail attempt, called a demand letter, from a ‘lawyer’ named Tony Buzbee,” Jay-Z began. “What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle. No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion.”
The rapper dismissed the allegations as “idiotic claims” and challenged Buzbee to file a criminal complaint instead of pursuing a civil lawsuit. “These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?”
Jay-Z criticized Buzbee’s methods, suggesting a pattern of theatrics in his legal practice. He also called into question Buzbee’s character, referencing his military background. “You claim to be a marine?! Marines are known for their valor. You have neither honor nor dignity.”
The Roc Nation founder concluded his statement with a defiant remark: “I look forward to showing you just how different I am.”
As the case progresses, it continues to draw significant public attention, with both sides firmly standing their ground.
