JAMB Suspends Law Programme Admissions In Eight Universities
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it will not process admissions for the Law programme in eight universities for the 2025/2026 academic session following a suspension by the Council of Legal Education (CLE).
In a statement released on Wednesday, JAMB’s Public Communications Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, confirmed that candidates seeking to study Law at the affected institutions will not be considered for admission.
Additionally, the suspension of the Law programme at the Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, will extend into the 2026/2027 academic session, making it a two-year ban.
The universities where the CLE has suspended the LL.B programme include:
- Kwara State University, Malete, Kwara State
- Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State
- Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State
- Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State
- Taraba State University, Jalingo, Taraba State
- Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo, Cross River State
- Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State
- Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State
The CLE’s decision follows a review of the accreditation status of Law faculties in these institutions. While no specific reasons were provided in the statement, the CLE typically enforces such suspensions due to concerns about faculty quality, inadequate infrastructure, or failure to meet accreditation standards.
This development means that prospective Law students must seek alternative institutions with accredited programmes for the upcoming academic session.
