IPOB Lawyer Ejiofor Condemns Sheikh Gumi’s Call To Arm Igbo Youths As Malicious And Divisive
The legal counsel for IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has strongly criticized Sheikh Ahmad Gumi’s recent proposal to arm Igbo youths as a counterforce to IPOB, calling it malicious, divisive, and inflammatory.
In a statement issued on Monday, Ejiofor accused Gumi of fueling insecurity in Northern Nigeria while defending elements linked to terrorism and banditry.
“Gumi’s proposal is both divisive and dangerous,” Ejiofor stated. “His obsession with financial gain has made him a defender and negotiator for criminal elements.”
Ejiofor also criticized Gumi’s perceived immunity from prosecution, despite his alleged ties to individuals undermining national security. He pointed out that one of Gumi’s emissaries is currently in custody under investigation for promoting banditry.
Ejiofor reaffirmed that IPOB has no links to criminal activities in the Southeast, attributing the region’s violence to criminal elements masquerading as freedom fighters.
He warned that Gumi’s call to arm Igbo youths is an attempt to destabilize the region and create internal strife.
“The Igbo people have learned from painful experiences and will not fall for such manipulative tactics,” Ejiofor asserted. “His divisive mission is dead on arrival.”
Ejiofor urged Igbos to resist external threats, reaffirming their commitment to security and self-determination despite political conspiracies and marginalization.
