Immediate Past NBA President Yakubu Maikyau, OON, SAN Mourns Passing Of Ekiti State Chief Judge, Justice John Oyewole Adeyeye
Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, OON, SAN, past President of the Nigerian Bar Association, has expressed profound sadness over the passing of Honourable Justice John Oyewole Adeyeye, Chief Judge of Ekiti State, who died on November 4, 2024.
Reflecting on Justice Adeyeye’s resilience, Maikyau recalled a visit to London on November 9, 2023, when Justice Adeyeye was undergoing medical treatment for injuries sustained from a partial collapse of the High Court Complex in Ado-Ekiti. The accident had left him in a coma, but, showing remarkable strength, he recovered, returned to the bench, and continued serving with unwavering dedication.
Maikyau praised Justice Adeyeye’s humble yet firm character and his respect for judicial ethics and professionalism. “His Lordship exemplified humility and a profound commitment to judicial integrity,” he noted.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to Justice Adeyeye’s family, the Ekiti State judiciary, and the people of Ekiti State, praying for comfort for the entire Nigerian legal community. “May His Lordship’s soul rest in peace,” he concluded.
