Ikpeazu, SAN Mourns Again As Another Daughter Dies In Tragic Accident

The legal community in Nigeria is mourning the sudden death of Chineze, daughter of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu.
Chineze died on Saturday, May 17, 2025, following a fatal road accident. She had recently passed her final Bar exams and was preparing for her call to the Nigerian Bar.
She died just days before she was scheduled to join the legal profession. Friends and family describe her as brilliant, focused, and full of promise.
Abdul Mohammed, SAN, informed the Federal High Court in Abuja about the incident during the ongoing trial of suspended DCP Abba Kyari. Mohammed appeared on behalf of Dr. Ikpeazu, who could not attend the court session.
Ikpeazu asked Mohammed to share the tragic news of his devastating loss. Mohammed added that Chineze was about to be called to the Bar before the accident.
This marks the second time in two years that Ikpeazu has lost a daughter. In March 2023, his daughter Nwankie died at age 31.
Colleagues, law students, and professional bodies have continued to express shock and sadness over Chineze’s passing. Many took to social media to pay tribute to her and offer condolences to the Ikpeazu family.
Messages described her as a beacon of hope for the future of the legal profession in Nigeria. Her death, they said, is a collective loss.
Ikpeazu remains a respected figure in Nigerian law, and many described his current grief as unimaginable.
The legal community joins the Ikpeazu family in mourning this heartbreaking loss.
