Ifeanyi Ejiofor Commends Intersociety For Reporting On Human Rights Violations

Human rights lawyer Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor has praised the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety) for its thorough reports documenting systemic human rights violations in Eastern Nigeria, particularly the violent incidents in Anambra State.

Ejiofor highlighted the significance of the publications, titled “Ocean of Innocent Blood Flowing in Eastern Nigeria” and “Human Rights Made in Nigeria,” describing them as essential resources for the global human rights community. These reports provide a detailed examination of severe abuses faced by vulnerable populations, addressing issues such as extrajudicial killings, torture, enforced disappearances, and widespread destruction of property.

He stated, “Your diligent efforts in documenting these injustices are commendable and vital. The reports, backed by respected international experts and human rights advocates, shed light on the egregious acts committed against defenseless individuals.”

Ejiofor also acknowledged Intersociety’s focus on systemic governance failures and the role of both state and non-state actors in perpetuating these violations. He emphasized the urgent need for international organizations like the United Nations (UN) and the International Criminal Court (ICC) to hold perpetrators accountable and ensure justice for victims.

“This significant contribution not only enriches the discourse on human rights but also serves as a crucial resource for policymakers, researchers, and advocates worldwide. As someone personally affected by these heinous violations, I am encouraged by the dedication of everyone involved in this initiative,” he added.

As the lead counsel for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Ejiofor concluded with a hopeful message urging collective action to restore justice, peace, and human dignity in Eastern Nigeria. “Let this monumental work inspire all of us in the ongoing fight for human rights and accountability,” he urged.
