Governor Fubara Swears In Newly Elected Council Chairmen In Rivers State
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has officially sworn in the newly elected chairmen of the 23 local government areas in the state. The swearing-in ceremony took place this afternoon, October 6, at the Executive Council Chamber of the Government House in Port Harcourt.
This followed the issuance of certificates of return to the chairmen earlier in the day by the Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, Adolphus Enebeli.
The election, which took place on Saturday, October 5, was marked by heightened tension. At its conclusion, the Action Peoples Party secured 22 of the 23 chairmanship positions, with the Action Alliance winning the remaining seat.
