Governor Ahmed Aliyu Swears In High Court Judges, Sharia Court Of Appeal Khadis

 

 

Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu has inaugurated seven High Court judges and Khadis for the Sharia Court of Appeal, urging them to uphold the highest standards of judicial conduct. The swearing-in ceremony, held in Sokoto, marked a significant addition to the state’s judiciary, aimed at strengthening its capacity and integrity.

Governor Aliyu emphasized the critical role of judicial officers in maintaining transparency, integrity, and public trust in the judiciary. He advised them to exercise patience, dignity, and fairness in handling cases and interacting with litigants, witnesses, and legal practitioners.

“You are to exhibit patience, dignity, and courtesy to litigants, witnesses, and legal officers that appear before you and accord them full rights to hearing in accordance with the law and rules governing your courts,” the governor stated.

He also warned against the abuse of office, external influences, and corruption, highlighting the need for judicial officers to remain impartial and avoid actions that could undermine their positions. Governor Aliyu commended the Sokoto judiciary for its reputation as one of the best in Nigeria, noting that no member of its high bench has been found guilty of corruption.

The governor pledged continued support for judicial independence and welfare, reiterating his administration’s commitment to the rule of law. He announced several initiatives to enhance the judiciary, including the construction of a new High Court complex, renovation of the Sharia Court of Appeal complex, and the provision of new official vehicles for the newly sworn-in judges and Khadis.

The new High Court judges include:

– Shuaibu Ahmed  
– Fatima Hassan  
– Fatima Saidu Muhammed  
– Nura Muhammad Bello  
– Abubakar Moyi  

The Khadis sworn in are:
– Abdulaziz Muhammad Yar Abba  
– Abubakar Lawal  
– Ibrahim Bello Sokoto  
– Bello Iman Abubakar  
– Lawal Muhammad Abibu  
– Umar Ibrahim Bodinga  
– Umar Kabir Marnona  

Governor Aliyu concluded by reiterating that judicial officers must maintain order, decorum, and efficiency in the discharge of their duties, as the National Judicial Council (NJC), anti-corruption agencies, and the state government closely monitor their performance.
