CAC Assures Lawyers Of Improvements To ICRP After Transition Challenges

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has released an update regarding the Corporate Affairs Commission’s (CAC) newly introduced Intelligent Company Registration Portal (ICRP). The update followed a letter received from the Commission dated August 26, 2025.
The CAC explained that the ICRP, which is powered by artificial intelligence, replaced the old Company Registration Portal (CRP). The CRP previously captured only 30 percent of the Commission’s services and was unable to support growth effectively.
According to the Commission, the transition has created inconveniences for many users. However, CAC assured members of the NBA that steps are underway to stabilize the new system.
The update outlined four major points. First, CAC confirmed that its backend systems have been restored. Second, staff have been directed to clear all pending requests within one week, with many volunteering to work weekends. Third, an emergency helpdesk has been created at the Office of the Special Adviser to the Registrar-General to handle urgent complaints. The desk can be reached via stakeholderscomplaints@cac.gov.ng. Finally, CAC projected that the ICRP would achieve 95 percent stabilisation by September 7, 2025. It said full optimisation and expansion is scheduled in phases over the next six months.
The Registrar-General and Chief Executive Officer, Ishaq Hussaini Magaji, SAN, assured the NBA of the Commission’s commitment to transparency and efficiency. He emphasised that measures taken would restore confidence in the new system.
Responding, the NBA acknowledged the assurances and confirmed that it would continue engaging with the CAC to ensure members’ concerns are addressed.
The Association encouraged lawyers facing difficulties to use the emergency help desk and keep proper records of their challenges for follow-up.
The NBA reaffirmed its dedication to protecting members’ professional and business interests. It also pledged to advocate for efficient, transparent, and user-friendly public service systems across Nigeria.
The statement was issued by Bridget Edokwe, NBA Publicity Secretary.
