Former Lawmaker Sani Declines Judge Role At Miss World Nigeria

Former lawmaker Shehu Sani has declined an invitation to serve as a judge for the 2025 Miss World Nigeria pageant. The grand finale will take place on April 4 in Lagos. Top 10 finalists will compete on appearance, poise, and other criteria.

Ben Murray-Bruce, founder of Silverbird Group, extended the invitation in an X post. Murray-Bruce urged Sani to join as a judge, advising him to arrive on time and dress in his finest attire.

Sani rejected the offer, saying he lacks experience in beauty pageants. He joked that his wives would disapprove if he served as a judge. He explained the event falls during the Sallah period when he prefers family time. Sani stated, “I appreciate the honour, but I must decline as I do not have the necessary expertise.” He later deleted the post.

Sani’s decision has sparked mixed reactions. Some applaud his focus on his legal and personal priorities. Others question whether his decision reflects broader issues in his professional commitments. Sani insists that he must adhere to his principles and not take on roles beyond his expertise.

The pageant remains a major event in Lagos. Organizers continue to search for a qualified judge with beauty pageant experience. They expect to announce a replacement soon. Meanwhile, the legal community watches Sani’s decision, noting that he has maintained his focus on core legal matters.

Observers note that Sani’s stance highlights a divide between legal professionals and entertainment commitments. Sani reaffirms his commitment to his legal career and personal values. The event will proceed as planned, and the search for a new judge continues amid ongoing discussions in the entertainment and legal circles.
