Former Governor El-Rufai Denies PDP Defection, Threatens Legal Action

Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, has firmly dismissed rumors suggesting he has joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). In a statement shared on his verified X account, El-Rufai described the claims as “patent lies and rumors” and urged the public to disregard the false reports.

El-Rufai, a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), emphasized his continued allegiance to the party, where he served as a key figure during his tenure as Kaduna State governor from 2015 to 2023. He has also referred the matter to his lawyers, threatening legal action against those spreading the misinformation.

The former governor’s denial quashes speculation about his possible defection to the PDP, reaffirming his commitment to the APC and his political ideology.

Known for his outspoken criticism of the PDP, El-Rufai’s response aligns with his history of opposing the party. His statement underscores his dedication to transparency and holding those responsible for spreading false information accountable.
