Fire Guts Cross River State High Court Complex In Ogoja

The Cross River State High Court complex in Ogoja was destroyed by fire on Sunday evening, leaving significant damage to the court’s infrastructure.

The fire was eventually extinguished through the combined efforts of security agencies and other relevant authorities. However, the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage remain under investigation by the authorities.

This incident comes shortly after a similar occurrence in February 2024, when the Kwara State High Court complex in Ilorin was also gutted by fire. The Kwara fire, attributed to a power surge, caused extensive damage to the registry department and litigation office.

The Cross River fire adds to growing concerns about fire safety in public institutions, particularly judicial facilities, across Nigeria. Authorities are urged to investigate and implement measures to prevent future occurrences.
