Fire Breaks Out At Rivers State House Of Assembly

The Rivers State House of Assembly Complex is on fire. On Sunday night, at around ten p.m., the fire was reported.

A fire truck was reportedly seen on the premises and security officers from the neighbouring Command of the Rivers Police had taken over the complex,

This is happening amid reports that state governor Siminalayi Fubara, is about to face impeachment.

Though it’s unclear if the fire had anything to do with the political controversy, there have long been rumours of a schism between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who is currently the minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
