FIDA Raises Alarm Over Rising Cases Of Child Defilement In Rivers

The International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA, Rivers branch has raised alarm over rising cases of defilement pf of pupils and students of primary and secondary schools in the state by teachers, proprietors and minders.
FIDA Chairperson in Rivers, Adata Bio-Briggs and publicity secretary Sophia Afolayan in a joint press statement regretted that people who are supposed to be caregivers to the children at school have turned to fierce monsters who now defile and abuse the children left in their care.
FIDA in Rivers State, said it has received a number of complaints in this regard.
“Recently the organization received a complaint from one of the public secondary schools about a defilement case, two months ago a head teacher from a school in Ozuoba area and again another from a private school. The organization will do all it can to ensure that all offenders are brought to book to serve as a deterrent to others”.
