Federal Government Declares Public Holidays For Easter Celebrations
In celebration of the upcoming Good Friday and Easter Monday festivities, the Federal Government has officially declared Friday, March 29, and Monday, April 1, as public holidays nationwide.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja. Speaking via the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, the Minister called on all Nigerians, especially Christians, to reflect on the selflessness and love demonstrated by Jesus Christ through his sacrifice.
Highlighting the significance of Easter, the Minister emphasized its role in promoting values of love, forgiveness, and compassion, which are vital for maintaining social harmony and unity in the country. He urged Christians to embody these principles, believing they have the potential to contribute positively to Nigeria’s socioeconomic development by fostering unity and collaboration among citizens.
Furthermore, the Minister encouraged Nigerians to embrace acts of kindness and generosity towards those in need, echoing the values of empathy and charity central to the Easter season. He asserted that such actions are in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, calling on citizens to support the administration’s initiatives aimed at achieving prosperity and sustainable development for all.
As Nigerians prepare to observe the Easter holidays, the Federal Government’s declaration of public holidays serves as a reminder of the importance of reflecting on the core values of love, compassion, and selflessness embodied by the Easter season.
