Federal Executive Council Approves Construction Of 40 Houses For Judges In Abuja
Wike stated that the houses will be built in the Kantampe district, with 20 homes designated for the FCT high court, 10 for the federal high court, and 10 for the court of appeal.
Highlighting the president’s concerns, Wike said, “Given the importance President Tinubu places on the judiciary, he found it unacceptable for judges and justices to live in rented accommodations or hotels, which compromises their safety and working conditions.”
To address this, Wike explained that the president instructed the FCT, through the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), to start the construction of the 40 housing units, to be completed in 15 months.
Additionally, the government has approved the construction of access roads to the new judicial quarters. “This includes the development of an access road from Artillery Road N11 in Mabuchi to the judges’ quarters, along with internal roads within the housing area,” Wike said.
