FCTA Offers Free Health Insurance and Caesarean Section For Pregnant Women In Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has launched free health insurance and caesarean section services for all pregnant women in Abuja.
Free Caesarean Section for Registered Pregnant Women
FCTA’s Health Secretary, Adedolapo Fasewa, announced the initiative during the 2025 World Health Day event at Gwarimpa District Hospital.
She explained that women must register with the FCT Health Insurance Scheme (FHIS) to access the free cesarean section and postnatal infant care.
FCTA Moves to Reduce Maternal Mortality
Fasewa highlighted that Nigeria leads sub-Saharan Africa in maternal mortality rates.
She emphasized that the current administration aims to reverse this trend and improve survival rates for both mothers and infants.
Collaboration Key in Combating Maternal Deaths
Fasewa urged women in the FCT to enroll in the free health insurance program.
She stressed that tackling maternal mortality requires collective responsibility, not just government intervention.
