FCT Police Ban Tinted Vehicles, Vow Strict Enforcement
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, December 4, FCT Police Commissioner Tunji Disu emphasized the urgency of the directive.
“We are clamping down on all commercial vehicles and everybody tinting their vehicles. We need to see people in their vehicles,” he said, adding that tinted windows often hinder the public and law enforcement from identifying individuals in distress.
“Tinted glass is contributing to a lot of lawlessness. A lot of the victims kidnapped that we have rescued have given us their word that the tinted glass made it impossible for people to know they were in distress. At the same time, many offenders cover their number plates or deliberately avoid putting them on their vehicles,” Disu explained.
He issued a strict warning to residents, reiterating the police’s commitment to enforcing existing regulations. “This is to warn all the residents of the FCT that the police will enforce all laws on tinted glasses. Nobody has the right to tint their vehicles. We will enforce the laws,” Disu declared.
The directive underscores the police command’s intensified efforts to enhance security and curb criminal activities within the FCT.
