Ex-CJN, FIRS Boss, Others To Address Tax Administration At Ibadan NBA Anniversary
The 70th anniversary celebration of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ibadan Branch, will feature a distinguished panel of speakers, including the former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Wale Babalakin, and Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) Chairman, Zacheus Adedeji. These eminent personalities are set to engage in discussions on “Tax and Its Administration in Nigeria.”
Adebayo Mutalubi, Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee, made this announcement during a press briefing at the Afe Babalola Bar Centre in Iyaganku, Ibadan, on Thursday. He revealed that the event is part of a week-long celebration marking the Ibadan branch’s significant milestone.
In addition to the key discussions, the anniversary celebrations will also include charitable initiatives, such as donations to orphanages, and the conclusion of the Aare Afe Babalola football competition.
“The event will feature notable figures, including Justice Ariwoola, SAN Wale Babalakin, and FIRS Chairman, Adedeji, who will deliberate on the topic of tax administration in Nigeria,” Mutalubi stated.
Other prominent guests expected to attend the event include Olufemi Awakan, Chairman of the Oyo State Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), NBA President Afam Osigwe, the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, as well as legal experts such as Aare Afe Babalola (SAN), retired Court of Appeal Justice Peter Olabisi Ige, Ahmed Raji (SAN), Wole Olanipekun (SAN), and the Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice Iyabo Yerima.
Mutalubi emphasized that the NBA Ibadan Branch has a long-standing reputation as a “pacesetter” and the first formally organized bar association in Nigeria, which has produced numerous outstanding lawyers making notable contributions to law and governance.
The 70th anniversary celebration will highlight the Ibadan Branch’s legacy as a leader in legal innovation and advocacy across the nation.
