Ex-CJN Ariwoola To Open Ibadan NBA’s 70th Anniversary, 2024 Law Week

 

Former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola, GCON, is set to inaugurate the 70th Anniversary celebration of the Ibadan branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the 2024 Law Week on December 13. The week-long event will take place at the Afe Babalola Bar Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan, featuring a lineup of legal luminaries and distinguished guests.

According to the program released by the Anniversary Planning Committee, chaired by Mutalubi Ojo Adebayo (SAN), the celebrations will begin with a Jumat Service at the Senator Ishaq Abiola Ajimobi Memorial Mosque, Oke Ado, on December 13, followed by an interdenominational service at St. Anne’s Church, Molete, on December 15.

Babatunde Fashola, SAN, former Lagos State Governor, will deliver the keynote address on the opening day. Additionally, Zacheaus Adedeji, Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), will present a lecture titled “Tax and its Administration in Nigeria” on December 16, with notable experts, including Abiola Sanni, SAN, and Akinmade Ajibola, serving as discussants.

The event will also feature a Health Walk on December 14, alongside other activities aimed at engaging the legal community and the public.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, will be Guests of Honour at the opening ceremony. The Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice I.S Yerima, and NBA Ibadan Branch Chairman, Ibrahim Lawal, will serve as hosts.

Goodwill messages are expected from branch patron Afe Babalola, SAN, the first female Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Folake Solanke, SAN, and the Oyo State Attorney General, Abiodun Aikomo.

Other notable attendees include Afam Osigwe, President of the Nigerian Bar Association; senior judiciary officials; and respected members of the Bar.
