Endowment: Prof. Omotola Immortalised With N5m Law Prizes

In commemoration of 17 years of the passing of the astute Legal practitioner and former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Late Professor Jelili Adebisi Omotola (SAN), the family have decided to immortalize him by instituting a 10-year N5 Million endowment in his name with prizes for outstanding students in the Department of Private and Property Law, Faculty of Law, University of Lagos, where he taught during his lifetime.

According to the late VC’s family, the endowment which will run for 10 years has prizes which includes N150,000.00 cash prize for the Best Student (Year 4) in Land Law, N150,000.00 for the Best Student (Final Year) in Conveyancing Law – N150,000.00 and N200,000.00 for the Best Student (LLM) in Secured Credit Transaction Law.

The late Professor Omotola was the Vice-Chancellor of the institution from 1995 -2000 and was the first and only lawyer in the University’s 60-year history to become its Vice-Chancellor. He spent 29 active years teaching Land Law, Conveyancing, and Secured Credit Transactions and was twice Dean of the Faculty of Law.
