EFCC Arrests Music Executive E-Money Over Alleged Naira Abuse, Dollar Spraying

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Nigerian businessman and music mogul Emeka Okonkwo, popularly known as E-Money, over alleged currency abuse.

E-Money Arrested for Spraying Naira and Dollars at Social Event

EFCC operatives apprehended E-Money on Monday night, April 28, for allegedly spraying naira and U.S. dollars during a public event. Sources say this act violated the Central Bank of Nigeria Act and the Foreign Exchange (Monitoring and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act.

Flown to Abuja for Interrogation

Authorities transferred E-Money to Abuja for further questioning as investigations continue. The EFCC has not issued an official statement on the matter.

Ongoing Crackdown on Naira Abuse

This arrest comes amid a broader crackdown on naira abuse and the defacing of legal tender at public events. The EFCC has recently intensified efforts to enforce currency regulations and curb financial misconduct.
