ECNBA Unveils Candidates For NBA National Elections 2024
The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) has unveiled the comprehensive list of qualified and disqualified candidates for the upcoming NBA National leaders’ elections, slated for July 20, 2024.
Out of the 34 legal practitioners who submitted nomination forms for the National officers’ election, 26 candidates have been deemed qualified, while 8 have been disqualified, as per the list published by ECNBA. Additionally, 16 candidates submitted nominations to represent the NBA in the General Council of the Bar, with only 11 candidates receiving clearance from the ECNBA.
Some of the names cleared for the national officers’ election are Mazi Afam Osigwe SAN, Tobenna Erojikwe Esq, Chukwuka Ikwuazom SAN, Dr. Mobolaji Idris Ojibara, Bridget Ijeoma Edokwe Esq, Auta Nyada, Blessing Imo Udofa-Poromon, Aigbokhai Oaikhena Osagie, Charles Ajiboye, Gerald Ugochukwu Abonyi, Henry Barnabas Ehi, Iwezor Promise Wobo Iwezor, Reginald Iheanyichukwu Ugwuadu, Bartholomew Aguebodo, Sosoipiriye Williams and several others.
A number of candidates were however disqualified by the ECNBA for various reasons, but were urged by the Committee to exercise their right of appeal against the decision under Part IX, 2nd Schedule of the NBA Constitution 2015 (As amended in 2021)
