The Department of State Services (DSS) has released the detained President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, on bail late Monday night, September 10, after he provided a statement.
Ajaero’s release came following a strong warning from the NLC, which threatened to mobilize its affiliate unions for a nationwide strike if he was not freed by midnight on Monday/Tuesday, September 9/10.
Ajaero had been arrested earlier that day at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, while en route to a global Trade Union Congress meeting in the UK.
