DSS Grants Nnamdi Kanu Access To Legal Team After Two-Month Block

The Department of State Services (DSS) has allowed Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to meet with his lawyers for the first time since late September. This development comes after nearly two months of restricted access.

The announcement was made by Kanu’s lead counsel, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, following a directive from the DSS Director General, Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi. Ejimakor confirmed that the meeting occurred on Monday and involved the participation of U.S.-based attorney Ndidi Awurum. He credited the breakthrough to the involvement of Hon. Obi Aguocha.

“Today, on the directives of the DG DSS, the #MnkLegalTeam conducted the first successful visitation with MAZI NNAMDI KANU since September 27. Mazi Ndidi Awurum, who traveled from the US, was with us. Our rigorous legal efforts, alongside Hon. Obi Aguocha’s intervention, were crucial to this outcome,” Ejimakor shared on X (formerly Twitter).

Previously, Ejimakor had raised alarms over the DSS’s defiance of a court order permitting Kanu access to his legal team. He accused the DSS of deliberately ignoring the court’s directive and had vowed to resume all suspended legal measures to ensure compliance.
