President Bola Tinubu has appointed Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu and seven other new ministers in a significant cabinet reshuffle announced on Wednesday. The changes come as part of efforts to strengthen the administration’s drive toward national development.
Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu has been named the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, while Dr. Jumoke Oduwole takes on the role of Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment.
Other key appointments include Idi Mukhtar Maiha as Minister of Livestock Development, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, and Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
Additionally, Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi has been appointed as Minister of Labour and Employment, while Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad is now the Minister of State for Education.
In his remarks to the newly appointed ministers, President Tinubu urged them, along with their reassigned colleagues, to view their roles as a call to national service. He emphasized his administration’s commitment to driving irreversible growth in Nigeria and challenged the ministers to apply their best efforts toward achieving the government’s priorities.
Earlier in the day, Tinubu also announced the dismissal of several ministers. Those affected include Barr. Uju-Ken Ohanenye, former Minister of Women Affairs; Lola Ade-John, former Minister of Tourism; Prof. Tahir Mamman, former Minister of Education; Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo, former Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development; and Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, former Minister of Youth Development.
