Dele Farotimi Declares Readiness For Legal Battle With Afe Babalola
Embattled human rights activist and lawyer, Dele Farotimi, has declared his preparedness to face his ongoing legal trial, following allegations of defamation against Afe Babalola, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD).
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Farotimi expressed unwavering determination, stating that he is “ready for war.”
“My battle axes are newly sharpened, my guns primed, I am ready to war,” he wrote. “I am strong enough to rumble unruffled against principalities and powers, but I am human enough to shed tears of joy in appreciation of the grace of God, expressed in the concerted efforts of fellow victims.”
Farotimi, who had recently been granted bail by a Chief Magistrate Court in Ado Ekiti, emphasized his resolve to continue the fight, asserting that while he acknowledges losing the initial round, he remains undeterred.
“I KNEW that the first round had been lost by those responsible for my imprisonment. My resolve was NEVER tested, but I was waiting for the next round of the fight to commence,” he added.
The activist was arrested weeks ago over allegations of defamation but secured his release after meeting the court’s N30 million bail conditions.
Farotimi’s statements have sparked widespread reactions, with many following the unfolding legal battle closely.
